extraction expections

  • We do not do more than 10 minutes of extractions.

Minimize Trauma to the Skin: Over-extracting can cause irritation, redness, swelling, and even scarring, especially for sensitive or inflamed skin. The skin needs time to recover after extractions, and extended sessions increase the risk of damage.

Prevent Infections: Overworking the skin can create open wounds, increasing the risk of bacterial infections if the skin barrier is compromised.

Skin Tolerance: People's skin's ability to handle extractions varies. Over-extracting may trigger inflammation, broken capillaries, or delayed healing.

Long-Term Results: It's better to perform extractions in moderation over multiple sessions rather than causing excessive trauma in one sitting. This approach promotes healthier skin and more consistent results.

  • Extraction tools we can use legally:

    Comedone Extractors:

Metal tools with a loop at the end are designed to extract black and whiteheads with gentle pressure safely.

    Manual Techniques:

Performing extractions with gloved fingers and tissue or cotton is safer and less invasive than using a sharp tool.

    Enzymes and Chemical Peels:

Products containing enzymes or acids help dissolve debris in pores, reducing the need for manual extractions.

    Steam and Warm Compresses:

These help soften the skin and open pores, making it easier to extract impurities without causing damage.

  • Why Lancets Are Not Allowed

    Scope of Practice:

In California, using lancets is considered a medical procedure and falls outside the scope of practice for estheticians. As it involves piercing the skin, using lancets often requires a medical license, such as a dermatologist or nurse.

    Infection Risk:

Lancets create an open wound in the skin, increasing the risk of infection if not performed under strict sterile conditions.

    Client Safety:

Improper use of lancets can cause scarring, hyperpigmentation, or other skin injuries. Without proper medical training, one could harm the client or worsen skin issues.

  • Home Care is Essential:

Following your home care routine is the most important step in achieving and maintaining clear skin. Without consistent compliance, breakouts will persist.

  • It’s a Gradual Process:

Clear skin is not achieved overnight. On average, it takes 3 to 4 months to see significant results, and up to 6+ months for moderate to severe non-inflamed acne. Be prepared for some breakouts during the clearing process.

  • Breakouts Are Normal:

Experiencing breakouts doesn’t mean the program isn’t working. Acne lesions can take up to 3 months to form, so some are now surfacing. Your home care products will prevent new acne from forming while we address existing lesions through extractions. This is why it takes time to achieve clear skin.

  • Dryness or Peeling May Occur:

It’s normal to experience occasional peeling or dry skin. As your Acne Expert, I’ll guide you and adjust your routine to minimize discomfort. Don’t hesitate to reach out if adjustments are needed.

  • Understanding the Acne Purging Process

It takes 30 to 90 days for a microcomedone to surface and acne will continue to come to the surface during the first 4 months on the program.

  • the facials

The acne hydrating facials and acne peel facials are by Face Reality. Acne treatment may consist of surface cleansing, mild chemical peels or steam and exfoliation, application of antibacterial serums, corrective serums, and extractions. The facials end with light therapy to kill bacteria. Treatments take approximately 45-60 minutes and cost $160 per session. Treatments are designed to balance, hydrate, extract acne impactions, and prepare the skin for the home care routine. Implements and equipment used in this facility are disposable or sterilized adequately according to the State Board of Cosmetology regulations

  • Before you start:

Sun Exposure: Avoid excessive sun exposure prior to your treatment. Your skin should not feel sensitive, irritated, or sunburned before the procedure.

Chemical Peels: Do not undergo any other chemical peels within 14 days of this treatment.

Facial Waxing: Ensure that no facial waxing has been performed within 7 days of your treatment.

Health Conditions: Inform the clinic of any health conditions, including herpes simplex or cold sores, prior to your appointment.

Medications: Notify the clinic of any oral or topical medications you are using, particularly retinoids (e.g., Retin-A, Renova, Differin, Tazorac) or Accutane (Isotretinoin).

Acne Treatment: Achieving clear skin is a process that requires a series of treatments and consistency with the home care routine recommended by your Acne Expert.

  • Is it expected to experience purging after facials?

It is standard to experience purging of the skin after receiving facials. This is a natural process in which the skin removes impurities and toxins trapped beneath the surface. During a facial, the pores on the skin are opened up, allowing the impurities to come to the surface. As a result, you may experience some temporary breakouts or blemishes. However, this is a good sign that the facial is working and your skin is detoxifying. It is essential to stay hydrated and maintain a good skincare routine after a facial to help your skin recover and maintain its healthy glow.
